Public Note for CCDS 5251.1
The coding region has been updated to represent an alternative splicing pattern and to extend the N-terminus to one that is more supported by available transcript and conservation data. The updated start codon has a strong Kozak signal and is conserved in mouse, dog, and others. Two additional upstream, in-frame AUGs exist in the human reference genome sequence, and their use would extend the N-terminus by 27 aa or 83 aa. These AUGs are conserved across several species, but there is no human or homologous transcript support for use of these AUGs, and therefore annotation of a longer protein is not currently supported.
