Release Notes - Chrysemys_picta_BioNano-3.0.4 The Western painted turtle whole genome shotgun library from primary donor-derived reads (Field number: RCT428 Locality: WA: Grant Co: small lake 1.3 miles south of Potholes Reservoir) were assembled using Newbler (version 2.6). Details of ... the 3.0.3 assembly can be found in Shaffer, H.B. et al (2013). The 3.0.3 assembly was improved with BioNano Genomics optical mapping resulting in this 3.0.4 assembly. The DNA source for the optical mapping was a captive born female hatchling from a turtle farm. Of the 2.5 Gb assembled genome (Chrysemys_picta_BioNano-3.0.4), the total assembly N50 contig and scaffold lengths are 21.3 kb and 16.0 Mb, respectively. For questions regarding this Chrysemys_picta_BioNano-3.0.4 assembly please contact Nicole Valenzuela, Iowa State , Ames, IA. Data use: The Chrysemys_picta_BioNano-3.0.4 assembly sequence is made freely available to the community by Nicole Valenzuela, Iowa State; and the McDonnell Genome Institute at Washington University School of Medicine. 1.
