Resistance to antimicrobial medicines (antimicrobial resistance, AMR) is an important public health challenge. In particular, the development of resistance to antimicrobials by bacterial and fungal pathogens that were formerly sensitive poses a great threat to human and animal health. The GRDI AMR project maps the development and transit of AMR through healthcare, animals, plants, wastewater and the environment. Genomics approaches including metagenomics, whole-genome sequencing and genomic epidemiology are applied to inform strategies for reducing the spread of AMR https://grdi.canada.ca/en
