More...In June 2023, a significant leaf lesion was identified on honeysuckle plants in Julu County, Hebei province, China. Leaf spot disease occurred in the field honeysuckle throughout the flowering period, especially after picking. To determine the pathogenic species causing this disease, fungal isolation was conducted using a tissue separation method. Initially white colonies transitioned to yellow-brown within 2-3 days, and eventually turning into black thick velvet, with a colorless or slightly yellowish-brown backside. Conidiophores started as spherical structures and gradually developed into radial, black-brown formations. Conidia were spherical, brown or blackish brown. Based on morphological and cultural characteristics, the leaf spot disease fungus was tentatively identified as Aspergillus spp. H2 strain was verified as the pathogen of honeysuckle leaf spot disease.
