More...In this submission, we present the complete genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis strain NDmed, acquired using PacBio sequencing technology. Prior to this, only a draft genome in contigs was available, which limited its use in high-resolution genomic studies. The availability of the full genome enables accurate alignment of Illumina reads of other NDmed strains to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). This sequencing project was motivated by the need to investigate differences between an spsM knockout strain (spsM::kan) we generated and a previously published spsM::kan strain, which displayed unexpected phenotypic variation. By aligning the Illumina reads of these strains to the newly sequenced NDmed reference genome, we aim to identify potential SNPs that may explain this morphological divergence.
