Strain of C. necator was evolved through thirty passages of adaptive laboratory evolution which increased its halotolerance from 1.5% NaCl to 3.25% NaCl. The strain showed greater susceptibility to lysis in distilled water which can be exploited for simplified separations of intracellular products in industrial applications.
