The European leaf-toed gecko (Euleptes europaea) is lizard species found in coastal regions of France, Italy and Tunisia and on Mediterranean islands. Its natural habitats are rocky areas and rocky shores (from Wikipedia entry). This genome is from a male in Corsica, France, collected and coordinated by Daniele Salvi and used to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University led by Olivier Fedrigo and Erich D. Jarvis.
