The northern elephant seal is a keystone marine species in the north Pacific Ocean, as both a predator in pelagic and benthic habitats, and as prey in those habitats, as well as in nearshore and coastal ones. Elephant seals also exhibit extraordinary physiological abilities, including tolerance for environmental extremes experienced by few other mammals. Sequencing was conducted with HiFi Pacific Biosciences long reads at UCDavis Genome Core, and Illumina sequencing at UCBerkeley QB3 Genomics Core. For more information, go to: ccgproject.org
