Genome Information for Corynebacterium
Although accurate classification of the Corynebacterium species in clinical isolates is important for selecting aappropriate treatment due to unfavorable resistance profile of many different species (such as Corynebacterium amycolatum, Corynebacterium jeikeium and Corynebacterium urealyticum), several strains still characterized only to the genus level due to problematic phenotypic identification of non-diphtheriae Corynebacteria.

New research studies in this line would, thus, increase our knowledge of fundamental aspects of the whole genus, while comparisons between different corynebacterial species can disclosed virulence genes and aid in understanding the pathogenicity.
