Doryteuthis opalescens, the California market squid, ranges from Baja Mexico to Alaska. This short-lived species only lives 6-9 months, and is the most harvested marine invertebrate in California with landings in excess of 73 million pounds. It is the most valuable fisheries target in California, and has suffered a nearly 360% decrease in landings since 2000. These data have been produced as part of the CCGP. Sequencing was conducted with HiFi Pacific Biosciences long reads at UCDavis Genome Core, Dovetail's OmniC libraries, and Illumina sequencing at UCBerkeley QB3 Genomics Core.
