G4 selected employees Institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Biology, Ufa Research Center of the bottom sediment of one of the soda lakes of Buryatia and characterized by an unusual ability to actively aktseptsii nitrites and recovery solutions to their high concentrations (up to 3-5% sodium nitrite). Recovery of nitrite to nitrogen gas occurs very rapidly under anaerobic (anoxic) conditions in the presence of reducing substrates - mixtures of amino acids or citrate. Characteristically, the utilization of nitrous acid anions is to virtually undetectable concentrations of NO2-, indicating that either the unusual topology of nitrite-nitrate reductase in the plasma membrane and its high specificity, or activity, or the presence of active transport mechanisms of concentration of anions through the cytoplasmic membrane
