More...This project seeks to solve the genome of the bacterium (bacteria) referred to as Segmented Filamentous Bacteria or SFB also called Candidatus Arthromitus. This organism cannot be grown in culture so will be sequenced from the colonic contents of a SFB 'mono-associated' mouse. All of the DNA came from a single ~13 week old, female mouse which was mono-colonized with SFB (the initial generation of our mice were gavaged fecal material obtained from Y. Umesaki who developed the SFB monoassociated mice).
