Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is the causative agent of swine pleuropneumonia. The disease is highly contagious, and associated with pigs of all ages, resulting in severe economic losses to the industry. The 15 serotypes of this bacterium display different global distribution and virulence. Here we announce six genome sequences of A. pleuropneumoniae clinical isolates from serotype 8. Despite being reported in several swine producing countries, these are the first genomes of this serotype to be available in the public databases. The information provided will be the basis for further studies addressing genetic features of the isolates for the search of novel molecular markers and vaccine candidates. Less...
