Tissue from A. cochlioides infected sugar beet seedlings were collected for RNA extraction with the RNeasy Mini Kit for Plants (Qiagen Inc., Valencia, CA, USA). 2-week old sugar beet seedlings (American Crystal 093RR) were inoculated with 5,000 zoospores per plant, and diseased roots were removed from pots at 1, 3, 5, and 10 days post inoculation (dpi) for RNA extraction, and Illumina sequencing.
