This sample was collected in the context of the NEREA project at the station MareChiara in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, using a ROSETTE sampler with CTD and Niskin bottles. The sample material, including plankton, was collected at a depth of 40m. The sample was size-fractionated (3-20 um) and stored in liquid nitrogen for later detection of prokaryote nucleic acid extraction and metagenomic analysis.
