growth protocolFifteen seedlings for each treatment of grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) were grown in clay soil under following conditions: 26°C d/20°C night temperature, 14 h photoperiod, and 76 % relative humidity). Drought stress was initiated by withholding water supply to 3 week-old seedlings at vegetative stage after seedlings were fully watered. For control, plants of same age kept under well-watered conditions. The soil water content was reduced from 19% (well-watered) to 10% (stressed) during the low moisture stress. Young leaves of well- watered as well as stressed were harvested after 8 weeks of treatment for sampling, as Lathyrus control; (LC) and Lathyrus drought (LD).
