Description

Strain C 1 is a derivative of C. glutamicum ATCC 13032. In this strain, the prophages as well as all copies of ISCg1 and ISCg2 have been removed. In addition, several large scale deletions have been performed, reducing the genome by 13.8% compared to the wildtype. This strain is genetically more stable, but otherwise grows like the wildtype. Therefore it represents a significant step towards a platform strain for biotechnology and basic research.
