Description

Developing castor bean (Ricinus communis) seeds were harvested at the development stages from stage III to stage VIII which are defined anatomically according to Bewley et al. (Can. J. Bot. 1982). Seeds were cut longitudinally in the middle to separate the endosperm and embryo which were immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen. Total RNA was extracted using TRIzol Reagent (Invitrogen). mRNA was purified using illustra mRNA purification kit (GE Healthcare).
