Discovering and testing diagnostic markers. Markers can be selected from the gene predictor profile illustrated in (Fig. 1). Selected markers are measured by quantitative RT-PCR in a test set of samples to check assignments of samples to the classes. If there is antibody available for the selected marker, it could also be tested by ELISA and/or immunochemistry. Markers with good performance are applied for diagnostics.
