Mitochondrial import receptor subunit Tom6, fungal Tom6 is the Tom6 subunit of the protein translocase complex TOM in fungi. This complex of the outer membrane of mitochondria is the entry gate for the vast majority of precursor proteins that are encoded by nuclear DNA, synthesized in the cytosol and imported into the mitochondria. Tom6 and Tom7 together play a role in the assembly, stability and dynamics of the TOM complex.
