TrbC/VIRB2 family
Conjugal transfer protein, TrbC has been identified as a subunit of the pilus precursor in bacteria. The protein undergoes three processing steps before gaining its mature cyclic structure. This family also contains several VIRB2 type IV secretion proteins. The virB2 gene encodes a putative type IV secretion system and is known to be a pathogenicity factor in Bartonella species.
