Global analysis of miRNA expression in prospectively purified human prostate orthotopic xenograft tumor cells with varying S/TFE

(Submitter supplied) Human prostate CWR22 OT-tumor cells were prospectively purified for expression of various stem cell markers (TRA-1-60/CD151/CD166/EpCAM/CD44/α2-Integrin). Unsorted total tumor cells or the additional marker positive cells that do not manifest stem-like characteristics were used as control. All these cells were subjected to molecular profiling of total RNA expression and the fold change data are tabulated according to S/TFE of the purified cells in relation to their control. more...

KLF2-induced actin shear fibers control both alignment to flow and JNK signaling in vascular endothelium

(Submitter supplied) The shear stress-induced transcription factor Krüppel-like factor 2 (KLF2) confers anti-inflammatory properties to endothelial cells through inhibition of activator protein 1, presumably by interfering with MAPK cascades. To gain insight into the regulation of these cascades by KLF2, we used antibody arrays in combination with time-course mRNA micro-array analysis. No gross changes in MAPKs were detected, rather phosphorylation of actin cytoskeleton-associated proteins, including Focal Adhesion Kinase, was markedly repressed by KLF2. more...

Macrophage-specific inhibition of NF-κB activation impairs foam cell survival

(Submitter supplied) Macrophage death in advanced atherosclerotic lesions is a key event in the conversion of benign lesions to vulnerable plaques. One fundamental transcription factor that has been shown to play a pivotal role in cell death/survival is nuclear factor kB (NF-kB). Still, the relevance of this key transcription factor for macrophage-derived foam cell survival has not been unequivocally resolved at the molecular level. more...

Confluent versus Sub-confluent HUVEC

(Submitter supplied) HUVEC (N=3 isolates) were separately grown to sub-confluency, and to confluency. In order to study the effects of growth and contact inhibition on the transcriptome, the microarray gene expression profiles of these sub-confluent and confluent HUVEC were compared. Keywords: HUVEC, confluency, contact inhibition

Similarities and differences in the transcriptome of human atherosclerotic and non-atherosclerotic macrophages

(Submitter supplied) Phenotypic and functional diversity between macrophage subpopulations reflects their plasticity to respond to microenvironmental signals. Apart from detecting differences in expression profiles, the comparison of the transcriptomes of different macrophage populations may also allow the definition of molecular similarities between these subsets. Transcriptome analysis of human Kuppfer cells, alveolar, splenic and atherosclerotic plaque residing macrophages using microarrays, identified 42 genes that are specifically expressed in atherosclerotic plaque macrophages. more...
