Summary
This region represents a conserved enhancer located approximately 30 kb upstream of the SRY-box 10 (Sox10) gene. This sequence drives expression of a transgene in tissues that express Sox10, including the ganglia, oligodendrocytes, and melanoblasts. Activity of this enhancer is induced by Notch signaling and repressed by paired like homeobox 2b. Sox10 protein binds this sequence and synergizes with transcriptional regulators including forkhead box D3, transcription factor AP-2, and other SRY-box family members to promote enhancer activity.
