Summary
This record represents the 5' regulatory region of the cytochrome P450 family 3 subfamily A member 4 gene. This sequence includes the proximal promoter as well as multiple enhancer modules present within the 12 kb upstream region. Xenobiotics, including rifampicin, induce activity of this regulatory region, as do vitamin D and glucocorticoids. The promoter and distal enhancers contain response elements that are stimulated by binding of nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group I member 2 (Nr1i2/Pxr) dimerized with retinoid X receptor alpha. These sites may also binds other nuclear receptors, thyroid receptor, and vitamin D receptor, which may positively regulate expression or compete with Nr1i2/Pxr binding and induction. This region is also regulated by binding of CCAAT/enhancer binding protein and hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 to defined recognition sites. [provided by RefSeq, May 2017]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
