Summary
This genomic sequence, which is located between the HNRNPR (heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein R) and ZNF436 (zinc finger protein 436) genes on chromosome 1, represents a mammalian-wide interspersed repeat (MIR) transposable element that was predicted to be an insulator by bioinformatic screening in CD4+ T cells. It was experimentally validated as a functional enhancer-blocking element by a reporter gene assay in HEK293 cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2018]
