    What's a GeneRIF?
    1. Here, the authors show that ZCN8 underlies a major quantitative trait locus (qDTA8) for flowering time that was consistently detected in multiple maize-teosinte experimental populations. Through association analysis in a large diverse panel of maize inbred lines, they identified a SNP in the ZCN8 promoter that showed the strongest association with flowering time.

    2. ZCN8 appears to play a pleiotropic role in the regulation of generalized growth of vegetative and reproductive tissues.
