    Study identified two novel sodium iodide symporter (NIS) interactors, valosin-containing protein (VCP) and ADP-ribosylation factor 4 (ARF4), with critical roles in modulating NIS function as well as correlating markedly with clinical outcome in papillary thyroid cancer. ARF4 enhanced NIS vesicular trafficking from the Golgi to the plasma membrane, whereas VCP governed NIS proteolysis.
