Study found downregulated RGS2 expression in early low grade prostate cancer (PC) which was caused by hypoxia. Its knockdown induced epithelial features and impaired metastatic properties. High RGS2 levels in advanced PC were correlated to poor survival and a metastatic status. This study describes new roles for RGS2 during PC progression and prognostic potential discriminating the indolent from metastatic forms.
