Data show that MAGP-2, component of the extracellular matrix interact with fibrillin and impart unique biological properties that influence microfibril function. Mutations in MAGP-2 have been linked to thoracic aneurysms and metabolic diseases and was shown to be an important biomarker in several human cancers. Also, mice lacking MAGP-2 have defects in multiple organ systems. [review]
