Title |
Mechanisms of RNA virus induced plant death |
Organisms |
Solanum lycopersicum; Solanum habrochaites; Solanum lycopersicum x Solanum habrochaites |
Experiment type |
Non-coding RNA profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
The changes of small RNA profile have been studied in tomato and wild tomato plants to understand the host reponse to the infection of a non-coding viral RNA infection.

|
Overall design |
Through comparing the response of tomato to necrogenic and non-necrogenic satRNA, the changes of small RNA profile gives the sRNAs that are correlated with the initiation of programmed cell death in tomato shoot apex. The difference in small RNA profiles in lethal host tomato and survival host S. habrochaitis underlines the sRNAs that may be involved in regulating plant death.
