Title HOXC6 affects the malignant phenotype of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells
Organism Homo sapiens
Experiment type Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
Summary HOXC6 is a member of the HOX family, and its aberrant expression has been verified in a variety of cancers, such as prostate, breast, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, gastric, and ovarian cancers. Some studies suggest that HOXC6 might be involved in tumor initiation and progression. However, the role of HOXC6 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells has not been fully investigated. Here we study how HOXC6 affects the malignant phenotype of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells

Overall design Thirty-two paired samples from patients that underwent ESCC resection were used to verify the expression of HOXC6 by IHC, qRT-PCR and western blotting.HOXC6 was stably transfected into esophageal cancer cell lines using a lentivirus-mediated method.Wound healing and Matrigel assays were performed to assess the effect of HOXC6 on the migration and invasion of cancer cells. The growth curving, CCK8, and colony formation assays were utilized to access the proliferation capacities. RNA-seq was performed to evaluate the downstream targets of HOXC6
