After validation of the RNA quality with Bioanalyzer 2100, 1 µg of total RNA was biotin labelled following the FlashTag Biotin HSR RNA labelling kit (Affymetrix).

Hybridization protocol |
Following fragmentation, mirRNA targets were hybridized for 20 hr at 48C on mirRNA-40 Affymetrix. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 450.

GeneChips were scanned using the GCS 3000 scanner (Affymetrix)

Data processing |
The data were preprocessed and analyzing using Partek Genomic Suite and the customed cdf brain Array V21 (http://brainarray.mbni.med.umich.edu/Brainarray/Database/CustomCDF/21.0.0/mirbasef.asp) with mirID as identifiers.
