Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 5 ug total RNA (Expression Analysis Technical Manual, 2001, Affymetrix).

Following fragmentation, 15 ug of cRNA was hybridized for 16 hr at 45C on GeneChipHuman U133A arrays. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 450.

Scan protocol |
GeneChips were scanned using the GeneChip 2500 Scanner (Affymetrix).

Data processing |
MAS5.0 was used for initial data extraction, raw data normalised to the internal spikes using R. Human and mouse orthologues and homologues were identified using Netaffix and only those transcripts used for further analysis.
