Treatment protocol |
All behavioral tests were performed under identical environmental conditions. Between individual testing phases, animals were kept in their housing cages. 4 months old male Stau2GT and WT mice were exposed to a stimulation of exploratory and motor behavior for 4 consecutive weeks by different behavioral test (open field, novel object recognition/location, Barnes maze)

Adult male B6.129P2-Stau2Gt(RRG396)Byg mice and WT C57Bl/6J mice (16 weeks to 20 weeks) were housed in groups of 2-5 animals with a 12-h light, 12-h dark light cycle in individually ventilated cages. Mice had free excess to autoclaved water and food.

Extraction protocol |
Total mRNA was obtained from brain samples using TRIzol (Ambion) according to the manufacturer´s protocol. Genomic DNA was depleted using the Mini RNeasy kit (Qiagen). cDNA was synthesized from purified mRNA by reverse transcription using Superscript III reverse transcriptase (Invitrogen) according to the manufacturer´s manual
