    What's a GeneRIF?
    1. Data show that the temperature sensitive (Ts) growth phenotype of bud13Delta and snu17Delta cells is a consequence of inefficient splicing of MED20 pre-mRNA. This Ts phenotype is partially suppressed by the inactivation of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), showing that the growth defects are augmented by the presence of a functional NMD pathway.

    2. Gene expression profiling identified a prominent and highly selective role for Med20 in the repression of RP gene transcription under multiple conditions
      Title: Genetic interactions of MAF1 identify a role for Med20 in transcriptional repression of ribosomal protein genes.
    3. Our results and published data support a positive role of the Med8/18/20 subcomplex in initiation-complex formation and suggest that the Mediator head contains a multipartite TBP-binding site that can be modulated by transcriptional activators.
