Definition

An infection caused by the parasite Opisthorchis viverrini. It results from the ingestion of raw or undercooked food. The clinical features vary from mild to severe and include gastrointestinal symptoms, anorexia, weight loss, hepatomegaly, and cholangitis. Patients are at an increased risk of developing cholangiocarcinoma. [from NCI]
