TEXT

Cloning and Expression

Zeng et al. (1997) identified a human tonsil cDNA encoding a protein similar to mouse 'jerky;' see 603210. They designated the predicted 442-amino acid protein HHMJG (human homolog of mouse jerky gene). The HHMJG and mouse jerky proteins are 35% identical. Northern blot analysis revealed that HHMJG is abundantly expressed as a 4-kb mRNA in various tissues. In testis, an additional 2-kb transcript is present.

Mapping

By fluorescence in situ hybridization, Zeng et al. (1997) mapped the HHMJG gene to chromosome 11q21.
