SV2-RELATED PROTEIN-LIKE; SVOPL

HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: SVOPL

Cytogenetic location: 7q34     Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 7:138,594,285-138,701,362 (from NCBI)

TEXT

Cloning and Expression

By searching a human database for sequences similar to the SLC22 family of anion transporters (see SLC22A1, 602607), Jacobsson et al. (2007) identified SVOPL. The deduced 491-amino acid protein has 12 putative transmembrane domains and shows sequence similarity with the synaptic vesicle protein SVOP (611699). Quantitative real-time PCR detected high expression of rat Svopl in coronal brain sections of the olfactory bulb and frontal cortex. Much lower expression was detected in other coronal sections, and little to no expression was detected in peripheral tissues.

Gene Structure

Jacobsson et al. (2007) determined that the SVOPL gene contains 13 exons.

Mapping

Jacobsson et al. (2007) stated that the SVOPL gene maps to chromosome 7q34; the mouse Svopl gene maps to chromosome 6qB1.
