sporulation protein YjcZ
This is a family of unknown function. However, family members such as yjcZ has been shown to be sporulation specific and transcribed by the SigK RNA polymerase beginning at t4 of sporulation [1]. YjcZ family sporulation protein
TIGR01732 identifies small sporulation proteins that include YjcZ and additional paralogs in Bacillus subtilis, and homologs in other endospore-forming bacteria. Paralogs with the invariant core sequence VVLFILLII include YosA, YjcZ, YoyG, YczM, YczN, YuzJ, YkzV, YhzE1, and YhzE2. They have been suggested to act as type I toxin-antitoxin system proteins, but may simply be sporulation proteins.
