YhjD/YihY/BrkB family envelope integrity protein
YhjD and YihY are paralogs in Escherichia coli K-12. YhjD appears to have a transporter-like function in transporting lipid IV-A, a precursor of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Mutation of BrkB in Bordetella pertussis increases serum resistance, which has led to it being called a virulence factor, but the finding would be consistent with a housekeeping role in cell envelope maintenance.
YihY/virulence factor BrkB family protein
YihY/virulence factor BrkB family protein similar to Bordetella pertussis BrkB, a virulence factor that is essential for resistance to complement-dependent killing by serum
