MMPL family transporter
Members of this family are putative integral membrane proteins from bacteria. Several of the members are mycobacterial proteins. Many of the proteins contain two copies of this aligned region. The function of these proteins is not known, although it has been suggested that they may be involved in lipid transport [1]. [1]. 10694977. Analysis of the proteome of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in. silico.. Tekaia F, Gordon SV, Garnier T, Brosch R, Barrell BG, Cole ST;. Tuber Lung Dis 1999;79:329-342. (from Pfam)
efflux RND transporter permease subunit
Members of this family are integral membrane proteins. Some are involved in drug resistance. AcrB cooperates with a membrane fusion protein, AcrA, and an outer membrane channel TolC. The structure shows the AcrB forms a homotrimer [1]. [1]. 12374972. Crystal structure of bacterial multidrug efflux transporter. AcrB.. Murakami S, Nakashima R, Yamashita E, Yamaguchi A;. Nature 2002;419:587-593. (from Pfam)
MMPL family transporter similar to mycobacterial membrane protein large (MMPL) transporters, which function in the export of lipid components across the cell envelope; belongs to a subfamily of the resistance-nodulation-cell division (RND) permeases
