Design: soil isolates were purified by restreaking, then TSA cultures were inoculated from fresh plates and incubated for around 3-4 hours at 37 degrees in a roller drum. DNA was isolated using the Promega Genomic DNA wizard kit following lysozyme degradation of peptidoglycan. Libraries were prepared and sequenced by the Microbial Genome Sequencing Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
