Study: Draft genomes of Pseudomonas from a soil chronosequence
show Abstracthide Abstract
Through the increasing availability of genomic data, which enables studies on the diversity, functional composition, and ecological potential of microbes across time, sequencing technology has increased our understanding of the microbial ecology of soil systems. It can be challenging to act in real life after years of studying a certain area. In order to mimic such a lengthy process, ecologists used the chronosequence concept. In their role as an ecosystem that separates terrestrial uplands from the ocean, salt marshes are constantly subject to biophysical and chemical perturbations. The island of Schiermonnikoog, the Netherlands is partly covered by salt marshes. Here, we provide a dataset of 67 fine draft genomes of the genus, Pseudomonas E, from a well-documented soil chronosequence on Schiermonnikoog, and the related physiochemical parameters. We anticipate that these complete genome sequences of Pseudomonas will help advance genomic comparative studies that improve ecological comprehension of Pseudomonas' role in the natural soil ecosystem.
