Study: RNA Sequencing of Raphanus sativus L.
show Abstracthide Abstract
Radish (Raphanus sativus L.; 2n=18) is an annual plant species belongs to family Brassicaceae. Radish is of significant agricultural and biological importance as many of the Brassica species that include important vegetable and oil crops. A large number of radish cultivars have been produced and there is a remarkable variation especially in root shapes and sizes (3 ??? 200 cm long, 3 ??? 50 cm in diameter) and weight (5g ??? 30 kg). This genome research project aims to construct a whole genome sequence of cultivated radish and tissue-specific gene expression profiles in various developmental stages. Radish has a genome of about 574 Mb. Genomic information of radish contributes to promote breeding programs and understand genetic backgrounds of root morphogenesis.
