Design: Total RNA was extracted using Trizol method. The total RNA was checked by using Agarose Gel Electrophoresis and Qubit 3.0 Fluorometer. The sequencing library was prepared as per the manufacturers protocol using NEBNext II RNA Library Prep Kit for Illumina. The library was quantified using Qubit 3.0 fluorometer (Thermofisher #Q33238) using DNA HS assay kit (Thermofisher #Q32851). To identify the insert size, the library was queried on Tapestation 4150 (Agilent) utilizing high sensitive D1000 screentapes (Agilent # 5067-5582). Finally, library was sequenced on Illumina NovaSeq 6000, S4 Flow Cell (2x150bp Read Length).

The grey mullet is a food fish species in the family Mugilidae. The fish is found in tropical, temperate and sub-tropical coastal waters. At present, the complete genome sequence of grey mullet is not available. This bioproject consists of the high-throughput sequence data, generated and used in the assembly and annotation of grey mullet genome.
