show Abstracthide Abstract
Comparative genome-wide transcriptome analysis of Vitis vinifera responses to adapted and non-adapted strains of two-spotted spider mite, Tetranyhus urticae. The spider mite Tetranychus urticae is a generalist pest capable of evading a wide range of plant defenses. Comparative genome-wide grapevine transcriptional responses, induced by the feeding of mite strains that are non-adapted and adapted to grapevine as a host, identified the importance of both constitutive and induced grapevine defenses. Constitutive defenses efficiently deterred herbivory of the non-adapted mite strain, however, neither constitutive nor induced defenses were effective against the adapted strain.
