show Abstracthide AbstractThis study provides the first annotated near-chromosomal level genome assembly of a flower-breeding Drosophila: D. gunungcola. The availability of the well-annotated reference genomes opens a window to decipher phenotypes affected by the abundant genetic variations. For example, D. gunungcola being a flower-feeding species can be used as a model organism to study the evolution of chemical signaling genes potentially providing a snapshot of host plant shift.
