SRX2153486: RNA-seq of Limulus polyphemus: central nervous system
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 1000) run: 29.1M spots, 5.8G bases, 3.8Gb downloads

Design: Animal was sacrificed at 15:30 and it's entire central nervous system (protocerebrum, subesophageal ganglia and ventral nerve cord) was removed and frozen on dry ice. The RNA was extracted using Ambion TRIzol and purified using Qiagen's Rneasy Mini kit. Libraries were prepared using Illumina's TruSeq RNA Sample Prep LT and loaded on the sequencer at ~12pM.

Study: Limulus polyphemus Draft Transcriptome and Raw Sequence Reads
show Abstracthide Abstract
In this study we developed a draft transcriptome for Limulus polyphemus and then compared the genes expressed during high and low tides and during the day vs the night. Particular attention was paid to putative core and accessory circadian genes. We identified these, and then compared their expression, using RPKM values, across the different conditions (tides and Light:Dark(L:D)).
