show Abstracthide Abstract
Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytshcha) bridge the land and the sea through multi-generational migrations that can encompass thousands of kilometers. These salmon also provide a pivotal link between an ancient heritage and modern society. By sequencing and assembling the genome of Chinook salmon, it is our hope that research efforts will benefit in numerous ways. Some of these benefits might include: the ability to compare information between studies, compare information between species, and ask questions that would not be possible without the genome (e.g. detailed linkages made between genotype and phenotype among environments).
