SRX3536662: RNA-seq of adult male microtus ochrogaster: brain
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 4000) run: 21.5M spots, 1.9G bases, 1,015.1Mb downloads

Design: Male prairie voles were exposed to one of three social experiences: virgins, pair-bonded, fathers. Punches were taken from the brain (hypothalamus/MPOA), and RNA was extracted.
Submitted by: University of California, Davis
Study: Differential gene expression in fathers
show Abstracthide Abstract
Parental care, and especially maternal care, is a common behavioral characteristic of mammals. Female parenting is obligate because mammalian offspring need to nurse, but fathering behavior among mammals is rare; only 3-5% of mammalian species exhibit biparental care. Mechanisms of fathering behavior remain sparsely studied. Here we attempt to identify new targets involved in the regulation of fathering behavior using RNA sequencing.
